Sdcheung, Based upon what my friend could decipher for me so far and what you have done yourself, the chart of your pedigree line is as shown below. Somehow I am not able to get all the 18 sons of Hua Sun in. I copied only till son number 11. I am still contemplating of how to display the 18 sons, their immediate descendants and where they had settled in. There appears to be some discrepancies between the pedigree line you posted and your grandfather handwritten copy. By matching the Hua Sun and the 18 sons, it would appear that you would be Generation 149 with respect to the first Zhang or 150 with respect to Huang Di. With the seriousness you are going about compiling your family tree I agree that you do need to go to your ancestral village find a copy of the jiapu rather than relying upon the two handwritten sheets. There will be a wealth of other information that your grandfather could possibly write within those two sheets. He had the great foresight and undertook the supreme sacrifice in painstakingly copying those essential valuable records for his descendants during that very difficult period and knowing what potential consequence he had placed himself in. I could actually visualize, feel and understand his passion when he performed that task. A lesser man would not have done what he did and I am glad to see his effort is not going to be in vain. Philip

With the assistance of a colleague, who is quite well verse in Chinese, please find below the rendition of the handwritten version for part of Sdcheung's zupu done by his grandfather. Other readers in this forum could assist by verify the accuracy, especially on those words highlighted in red.

Hi Sherman,
I understand that certain parts for few of the words could not be seen and thus difficult the pin-point the characters they represent. What are provided is a guess at best. If you could provide a clearer scan from the original, hopefully they could be resolved.
If you are interested to get what your grandfather had written for the other parts to be digitized, I could upon this colleague from that other division to help me out in deciphering. He may not be around for long as his retirement is due soon. In the last one year, I had been teaching him how to use his financial "fishing rods" in catching "fishes" in a manner he had not contemplated possible. That is done within the limited area of "pond" here and his able to do so is to some extent at my own disadvantage. So he would be ever ready to assist me whenever I request for his time.

Hi Sherman, I shall revise your pedigree chart based upon the latest information you provided. Before I do that, I just wish to bring your attention to a few more discrepancies based upon the rendition of your scanned copy of your grandfather hand written records. After you decide which to follow, I shall do the necessary. The following is the scanned copy of your grandfather hand written records that you emailed me originally: My colleague from the other division provided the following rendition: I have summarized the differences in the following chart: Philip
