Hi Douglas Lam and Joe - Good to have seen you in Sydney Douglas. And thanks for playing host again. Our plane was cancelled - no notice and no explanation. Just cancelled. So there were 2 other planes, 5.30pm and 6.55 pm - we got diverted to the last one - based on the tickets we had purchased!Got home well after mid night. Then had work a few hours later. Hopefully you will get the airfares you need for China. Will post photos later. Thanks again

Hi Joe and Helen, My daughter booked my ticket to China online. I am flying to Hong Kong on Sept. 21. It was a mistake to book online. I can do better by going to a travel agent as I normally do. I much rather fly direct to Canton. Dealing person to person is much better. A lesson learned. It must have been annoying and frustrating to Helen and LC to get stuck at the airport and not knowing what's going to happen next. I went through a similar situation last year when my flight to Hong Kong from Taipei was cancelled due to typhoon. This is Joe and me at historic Riccarton House. www.riccartonhouse.co.nz/ The House was badly damaged in the earthquake. It was painstakingly restored to its former glory. We were very impressed by a young Korean university student who served us coffee there. He was so courteous, knowledgeable and helpful that we both agreed we would like to employ him if we ever became an employer. Joe took me to many great sights, including the Memorial Wall to the 'quake victims. We sampled various cuisines. I was surprised restaurants offered venison on the menu. A great time was had by me in Auckland and Christchurch. Let's meet up again and let the good time roll on. Douglas

Thanks Helen, I am packing now and at this time tomorrow, I should have landed in Hong Kong and making my way to a relative's place on my wife side of the family. Whilst in Hong Kong, I'll be meeting two Americans. I am gonna guide and translate for them after crossing into China. Exciting times ahead. I am also looking forward to meeting our Henry and the party he is leading.
