I can't believe Ching Ming is coming again so soon. I am going back to page 3 to cut and paste all of the helpful information that was provided to me by the forum members so that this time, I do a much better job of it.
Fay Chee
(1 hour later) I wish there was a step by step guide called "Ching Ming for Beginners"..........when I think of all the paper money I burned that did not get to my dad because I didn't know I was supposed to say his name out loud or that it had to be burned completely, makes me feel so inadequate.

Hi Ngkokweng, It's good to hear your voice again. I am still in shock over the Malaysian Flt 370....can't think, just numb. I checked the passenger list for Szeto's, and I was relieved there were none. The forum has been very quiet.......it's deafening.
Thanks for saying Hi!

With Fay Chee’s permission I am posting below the chart she requested to be constructed for her 5th cousin in Canada. It has just been printed into scrolls using anti-UV ink on “artist canvass”. 8 copies weighing around 4.5 kilograms have just been dispatched to her on Tuesday March 14, 2014.

Phillip, that is fantastic. Fay Chee must be absolutely delighted with what you have produced. What a wonderful way to preserve the family records and have them readily able to be followed and understood. A beautiful production! Lolly.

Thoroughly agree with lolly. This presentation is hard to top. Can't think of any full-time genealogist can improve on it.

Hi Lolly and Douglas,
Thank you for your comments on my second chart and the excellent work that Philip did to put it all together. He is a master in this art and I cannot thank him enough for all his hard work. As you can imagine, the wait to receive them is driving me a little crazy, but they should arrive in about two weeks. I can't wait to send them to my Elder brother, Yui Sin, and wish I could be present to see him unroll it, but I am sure a nice letter will follow in the mail (he cannot speak or write English).
Douglas, the pictures that you took when you visited my village have really made the charts extra special for all, especially with the background information that my Elder brother provided. I am sure that there were tears in his eyes when he saw the pictures, especially of the village sign and road that he personally funded to have made in honor of his mother and father (Xingyou and He Qun).
Thank you again, Fay Chee

The beauty of this genealogy forum is that we are willing to assist others in whatever way we are capable of.
Suppose to fly to China this morning with my wife and 16 other friends for 11 days. The flight is supposed to land in Hangzhou would be visiting Huangshan, Lushan, Jingdekeng among other places. Unfortunately sprained my left knee yesterday evening and decided it would wiser not to make the trip as there would be a lot of climbing and walking to do. Had already checked in and booked my meal for flight there.

Philip, what a bummer. Of all the places mentioned, I have only visited Huangshan in 2010. Love it, so relaxing over there. Went pass Hangzhou by train on way to Huangshan after the Expo., which is very close to Shanghai. Jingdezhen is also a place I wanted to see. It is synonymous with the finest in porcelain which astounded the world. A masterpiece could fetch tens of millions.

Knee much better now. Can walk now without the aid of walking stick. I had been to Huangshan once before around 1997. So fascinated by the place that I had always wanted to revisited it again but not fated to this time around. Among the shan (山) in China I visited so far (Emei Shan, Huang Long, Huangshan, Lushan and Wuyi Shan) I still like Huangshan the most. Climbing the Wuyi Shan was the most challenging. Walking up Huang Long with my wife around 2007 was the first time when I was told that I was old. We were walking behind a couple who I estimated to be around late twenty or early thirty. Half way up, the man complained to his wife that he was exhausted and did not wish to walk anymore. The wife scolded him: “Look at the old man behind, he is still walking”. Thinking she was referring to an old man at the back, I turned around to have a look. There was no one behind us! Went to Lushan and Jingdekeng just in December 2013 before going to our main ancestral hall for the annual Winter Solace gathering there. So did not miss much by not going for the trip. Yes, porcelain in Jingdekeng is very beautify and could not resist buying a set from this master below at the porcelain exhibition center there. Would not be surprised should my wife return with more porcelain from there next week.

Philip, so glad that your knee is getting better. I have been replaying the story of the 'old man' over and over in my head and cannot stop laughing to myself........the grandbaby looks at me strangely and I can't explain the joke to her. I still keep laughing out loud......now my miso soup came out my nose as I couldn't stop the laugh while writing this note.....thanks for that bit of sunshine.

Can anyone tell me if I missed the "window" for Ching Ming? I just did a search on Google, and some websites said that it must be done between Mar 5th and Apr 5th...............so is the window closed?
I was right at the entrance with my turn signal on, and the guard closed the gate.............maybe I can do a mini Ching Ming in my hotel room....in the tub..........
