Hi,
I am also a Lao living in Mindanao (Cagayan de Oro - Gingoog City area) but my father was originally from Bohol. We know that we have relatives in Camiguin and the Samar-Leyte area but contact has been lost since the days of my grandfather. We were told that my great grandfather was named Nunga Lao (not sure of the spelling) and was later Christianized to Antonio Lao. The people supposedly called him intsik Nunga. The story was that my great grandfather (Nunga Lao) had 2 brothers. The three of them left Amoy (now Xiamen) and settled in the Samar-Leyte area. One stayed and the other two relocated somewhere else. My great grandfather moved to Bohol where he started a business (lumber yard and general merchandize). I think the other one went to Camiguin, but I'm not sure. I am also trying to trace my family tree. I have been to Amoy several times because my wife is a Chinese citizen from Shanghai. If the narrative sounds familiar to you, please let me know. We might be related, afterall. Thanks.
