I am a 3rd Generation Singaporean looking for the Teo Clans Generation Poem for naming purposes. Lost a lot of plausible leads with passing of elder relatives. Only information I got was that my grandfather had the middle name Guan and and Great grandfather had the middle name Qiang. I'm not sure if this helps at all.

jcmteo The generational poem is frequently clan specific and regional specific. The clans from Fujian has been the most successful in finding online postings of generational poems. I have not heard of such postings from clans in Zhongshan and the Sze Yup region. Where is your Teo clan’s ancestral village? Your best bet is to find the Teo Zupu using all the methods discussed on this Forum. You might be able to contact the Ancestral Hall also. I have been looking for my generational poem for a long time and have failed. These three post might be of interest to you: generational or family poem siyigenealogy.proboards.com/thread/1235/family-poempoem from gravestone siyigenealogy.proboards.com/post/7680/threadgeneral discussion siyigenealogy.proboards.com/thread/99Finally, most modern Chinese feel the need to decide on a permanent Chinese name at the birth of their child. The Zi name or genealogical name is usually decided at the Coming of Age ceremony when the child is 18-20 years old. If you do not have your generational poem now, you have (by tradition) 2 more decades to do your research.
