Hello, My family name is Seto and there are many posts here on the Seto/Szeto/Situ/Soo Hoo thread. My Ancestral Village is Chaoyang Li, Chishui Zhen, Kaiping, Guangdong. I will add a link to the book "200 Seto Villages" below. You will not be able to view it, but can download it to your computer and view it. It is in PDF format. I think this is my Village: Chung Wo Heung (松和鄉) Chiu Yeung Lay (朝陽里) 22 11 30 N, 112 34 48 E but the coordinates are off in Google Earth..........I put a yellow pin on a Village that I think is Chaoyang Li.... In the book "200 Seto Villages", my Village is the lower picture on page 115, and my Ancestral home is the last house on the far left.........

The picture appears correct FayChee. The coordinates show the wrong location, north of your village when put into google map.

Hello, I am Jose Ang Balbontin Jr. 66 y/o. This is my first time in this website trying to trace my maternal ancestor. My mother was Fe Ang born on 1929 in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental. Her father was ANG KO and per information, my lolo ANG KO was from Amoy China and migrated to the Philippines particularly in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental before World War II. My lolo was a MASTER CARPENTER. After several years, my lolo returned to AMOY CHINA. And that's the end of the story... I wonder if my lolo has his relatives in AMOY with the surname ANG. According to my mother, the surname ANG was my lolo's real surname. Thank you and hoping I can find any real ANG surname in this forum.

Hi Joe,
As your maternal ancestry is from Amoy and therefore the spoken dialect would be Min Nan (閩南) the surname Ang would likely be Hong (洪) in Pinyin. Some people I had come across in Malaysia are of that surname.
Amoy, also known Xiamen, is a big city managed as a sub-provincial covering the districts of Huli (湖裡), Siming (思明), Jimei (集美), Tong'an (同安), Haicang (海滄) and Xiang'an (翔安). Without narrowing down further the particularly location where your maternal grandfather originated from, it not probable you would be able to locate any of his Ang relatives.

Thanks for your confirmation Lachinatown, It's so hard to see details on this Google Earth Map, but I do believe the fish pond resembles the one in the photos from my nephews trip to our Village, and the rice fields seem to be similar in placement.

My grandfather, CHING KIM KO, was from Amoy, China and migrated here in the Philippines. I was told that his brother or sister was also in Cebu City, Philippines. Any information of them will be appreciated. Hope to meet anyone related to my grandfather, CHING KIM KO. Thanks.
