Hello Iem,
Interestingly, my paternal Great-Grandmother comes from Chung Hing Li in Hoiping. I have two different villages-
Chung Hing Li - Chun Shan Heung - Hion Kong Market - Hoiping
Chung Hing Li - Fung Tung Heung - Hoiping
Perhaps if you could specify the village I could assist you further. If you need, I can provide characters as a reference point.

lem, do you have Chinese characters? Where did you get the information? mjyee8, please clarify why you say there are two villages? Isn't the village Chung Hing Li? Please provide source.
The two villages may sound alike and maybe in the same "heung". It is believe they are separate villages in the approximate location of 22 20 00 N, 112 41 24 E. If you have the Chinese characters or the sources, then we can verify the correctness.

Hello lachinatown, I say that there are two different villages because of different townships. As you have noted, the villages are named Chung Hing Li. However, the township or Heung is different. By me asking to "specify the village", I in fact am wanting for Iem to find a township as well. Here is my sourcing, from a family document. It was completed by the Hong Kong Courts of Justice as part of a statutory declaration, thus effectively reducing doubt about the authenticity.

mjyee8, Can you repost the first photo without cutting off the Chinese characters? The village characters are missing. The Chinese character reads China, Kwantung (Guangdong), Hoiping, Hin Kong (Roots Village DB spelling).
As explained, the township has been dissolved, divided and/or merged, meaning the village administrative order has been changed.

lachinatown:The information is from my uncle who was born there in 1935. I will see him in September and ask for clarification on the village. He shared with me that the village contained approximately 40 homes and was gated front and back to prevent bandits from entering. Any info on the Lem surname?

lem, Without Chinese characters one can only guess what Cheung Hing Lai (Cantonese) may be in Hoi Ping County. The Village DB contains two possibilities. Here are two identical villages in Qinhuxiang/Gam Wuh Heung (錦湖鄉) called Zhongqingli/Jung Hing Leih (中慶里). One is a Lin/Lam (林) village and the other a Li/Lee (李) village. The Village DB shows it as Chung Hing Lay. The other one is Zhongxingli/Jung Hing Leih (中興里) but is a Situ/Si Touh (司徒) village in Fengdongxiang/Fung Duhng Heung (風洞鄉) (which matches mjyee8’s second image) and also shown in the Village DB as Chung Hing Lay. BTW, I use Yale Cantonese Romanization. Perhaps your Lin/Lam (林) ancestral village is Zhongqingli/Jung Hing Leih (中慶里) which you may be able to verify with your uncle. Unfortunately, it is not shown in Google Maps, but Qinhuxiang/Gam Wuh Heung (錦湖鄉) is shown at GPS 22.191201, 112.477265 which means the village is nearby. twoupman houseofchinn.com

twoupman- Thank you for your clarification of the different villages depending on the last name. The images I provided did match with the Seto (司徒) family member, and thus may not be the village Iem is seeking.
