Before he passed away my father told me that our ancestral village is called 山秀村. It is supposedly located near Guiping in Guangxi Province in Mainland China. I tried to look for it in Google Maps but without success. Does anyone has any idea how I may locate and verify the existence of this village short of physically travelling there myself?

The village is located at 22.475548, 109.441299?, Shanxiucun 山秀村 in Guangxi 广西, not sure about Guiping. Apparently there are two Shanxiucun villages. Are you sure Guiping is not Xhaoping?

Thanks to both twoupman and lachinatown for the quick and useful replies.
Now I am confused. From memory my late father always told us that our "xiang xia" (ancestral home) is Guiping and he wrote on a piece of paper that 山秀村 is the actual ancestral village. So it doesn't seem right that Guiping is quite some distance from the village. Is it possible that he referred to Guiping because it is the nearest big town/city?
