The Tung Wah Museum archives collection is formed by the original documents and papers either transferred or received from the institution, former Tung Wah chairmen and directors, general public and other organizations. The rich collection consists of the Zhengxinlu (early annual report), correspondences between Tung Wah, the public and the government, board meetings and other committee meetings minutes, journals, publications, news clippings and souvenirs etc. The archives is not only a record of Tung Wah activities over the past 140 years, it also carries the context which echoes the development of Hong Kong. The earliest record preserved by the Museum is the Zhengxinlu (Annual Report) of Tung Wah Hospital in 1873. At present, the quantity of the archival collection adds up to 300 linear meters. To familiarize the public with our archival collection, we will gradually upload the catalogue on the website. www.twmarchives.hk/archives_catalogue_overview.php?lang=en

Helen, I think it was in October 2016 when I was in Hong Kong, my contact there tried to get permission for me to visit the Tung Wah Coffin House. But there was remedial works in progress, and we had to shelf the plan. Last year, I did not have time to even think of visiting it. Hope to do it one day for it has such a long association with Chinese overseas.
