Dear Colleagues:
As organizer of several Chinese American genealogy workshop since 2015, I have had a very productive interaction with FamilySearch [ www.familysearch.org/ ], the premier repository of genealogy information, materials, and books, including Chinese genealogy books, with over 13 million images related to Chinese genealogy that are available for free access online and through nearly 5,000 FamilySearch Centers throughout the world.
At our recent Chinese American Genealogy Workshop in Las Vegas, Nevada this past January, attendees brought manuscript, as well as, published Chinese genealogy books for free on-site scanning by FamilySearch staff and where there were multi-volume book sets, they were brought back to the FamilySearch scanning facility in Salt Lake City, Utah for scanning and then returned to the owner.
There is a permission to duplicate form - attached, in both English and Chinese, which must be completed and submitted along with the genealogy books that give permission to duplicate and post the resulting scans for public access on the FamilySearch website.
It must be stated that FamilySearch organization, library, scanning facility, and staff cannot be responsible for any damage or loss any of the Chinese genealogy books in transit to and from the scanning facility.
I would like to thank FamilySearch for its generosity in preserving and sharing Chinese genealogy books worldwide.
Please mail your Chinese genealogy books and completed permission to duplicate form directly to:
