Good morning,
I am starting my VERY long search into where my grandparents came from. I have found quite a bit on the Canadian side but nothing from the Chinese side. This could also be due to not knowing the language at all. Either way, my grandfather, Chow Gan immigrated to Canada in 1912, paying the Head Tax to which I can now see every time he came back into the country. He brought over my grandmother and uncle in 1952 but left a son behind. I would love to find a place to start looking and any help is greatly appreciated. I am also attaching the tombstone of my Grandmother.
I would ask my mother about this stuff but unfortunately, she passed in 1999 and did not tell us very much growing up.
Thank you again for any information.
Cara

Hi Cara,
Mrs. KIng Chow, your Grandmother's Chinese gravestone translates as :
Middle column: Mrs. Chow , Maiden surname is Wong
your left hand column: is her death date May 18 1966.
Your right column: Guangdong Province, Kaiping county, and the 4 characters for her ancestral village name.
