Looking to trace my roots in Hainan

Hi all I know from what my mother tells me is that my grandfathers name is Wang 王 hua sun and he's from a village called hua ling xiang Shui we still have family on the island from what I've been told but since my family was killed during the Cambodian genecide we lost all contact and all detail pentaining anything with any family information any information will help greatly we still speak hainanese daily and are residing in Australia

Hi Sunlee,

As you know the name of your ancestral village in Hainan, why don’t you make a trip there and make contact with the Wang (王) clan ancestral hall. From my contact with many whose ancestry are from Hainan, it is very likely you should be able to find your Wang clan jiapu or zupu. From there you may be able to find your grandfather’s name therein and in finding your relatives or their descendants still living there. If you do not wish to go there to do the search by yourself, you could get someone to do that for you for a fee. I would strongly advocate that you do it on your own as it would be a very rewarding experience. I could recall another person in this Forum, whose ancestry is from Hainan and also from Australia, who engaged others to do it on his behalf.

Thank you for the information I can't seem to find the name of the village on Google maps I have found 2 villages one in Sanya and one in lingshui with the name xiangshui but not his lingxiangshui and again thank you for the help
