垣墓 has the meaning of "low wall" "grave, tomb". Maybe it was meant to be written as 坟墓 (Fen Mu or Grave), which is more common, jasonwu.

Fay Chee, I am so pleased you are stepping up to the task and help others. You may not be aware I am still in China until Nov. 15 when I take a night flight back home to family.
I flew to Hong Kong on Oct. 13, there, I met and guided two Americans to their home villages. One man left China a completely changed person. The man is American through and through. His great-grandfather came to America in the mid-19th. century. But it was the maternal side that we had great discoveries and hints of intrigue. Two or three things changed him. He could not get enough of China and therefore his roots.
As for me, apart from my field searches, I managed to squeeze in a visit to China's most scenic spot Guilin for just two days and travelled on the high speed train.
Another highlight is a village wedding to which I am honoured as an elder. It is so elaborate over many days. It is a senses overload. I am taking many, many photos to refill the gaps in my knowledge. The big day is on Sunday, Nov. 11. It is so good to have Mao gone.
On the 13th. I'll be meeting people from Australia. They have no language barrier but they needed my help two years ago. They will be arriving by ferry from Hong Kong, and I'll have a car and driver ready to greet them. On the 14th. yet another American cometh. I,too, did the leg work last year and late last month. All the Americans were referred to me by Henry.
I also visited Sze Yup and had great results for my other Australian friends.
It's been hectic, fun and rewarding. My five week leave is going quickly, and I put on weight for I am eating plenty and doing little exercise.
Two days ago, an Australian academic wrote to me for help. It seems words are getting around.
All the best Fay Chee.

Hi Lachinatown,
I only called my Grandfather 'Aba' or Grandfather as we didn't speak Cantonese and he didn't speak English. And he came to live with us in his old age until he passed away in 1974.
Cheers Sophie

So, I believe that the correct Village is DaJin Li/Tai Chun Lay from the tombstone.... In the book of 200 Situ Villages, I found this.........can anyone confirm this is the correct Village for Chakrajuices?

Hi Douglaslam!
I am so envious of everyone there visiting China.......one day it will be me and someone can be envious of me.....
Can't wait to see your pictures.
My next step will be looking through Volume 3 of the new Situ Zupu for the Village pages that may contain the name of You Quan .....I am assuming that it covers Dajin li in this Volume, but I could be wrong. I will need help in identifying the characters correctly as I think the simplified Chinese characters look different than Mandarin or Cantonese........

Yes, FayChee, the lower left photo is the village.
There are no simplified 佑荃 characters.

Fay Chee,
There it is - the lower panoramic image is of 大津里/Dajinli/Da Chun Lay. The image to the upper left of this is of the Chun Wo Ancestral Hall which you've included on the cover of your Situ Genealogy Collection. The image to the upper right is of the Village Gate.

Oh no, I think I see a problem. Unlike Volume 5 where the lineage is on top and the far right hand corner shows the hometown..........Volume 3 does not have it like that, so I guess I will not be able to find Dajinli in the titles.........
If I could figure out if there is a table of contents where the hometown is listed next to a page number, that might help......
I removed the previous unhelpful pages......

I made a WeChat plea to Wing Tak Szeto of the Hong Kong Szeto Network to help me find the pages in the new Situ Zupu containing Dajinli in Chishui Zhen....He was a big help finding Wing Joe's family tree........keeping my fingers crossed.......

So far, Wing Tak found this page in Volume 3 page 70 (same one that Jason Wu found in the old Situ Zupu on page 67). He asked if we could confirm the two are the same before he does more tracing of the family tree. I will send him the other page that Jason found on page 37.....

After seeing both pages of the old zupu (pages 37 and 67), here is Wing Tak Szeto said.....
"These two have 2 wives also, but different surname. If you can give me the information of the wives, that is making conclusion easily."
So I told him that there is no information about the Chinese wife and the 2nd wife was a native Maori.........

New comment from Wing Tak........
"Since the old Zupu does not show the daughter, just show the son. The new Zupu shows he was 24th and the latest is 27th, the best way is finding the names of 25th, 26th and 27th. Do you know their information?"
I said that I would ask about the New Zealand 25th, 26th and 27th generations....but no one knows about the Chinese generations.
Chakrajuice, can you give any information about how many New Zealand family members came from your grandfather, You Quan, that should be (generation 25), and the next generations (26 and 27?)

Next comment from Wing Tak regarding page 70 of the New Zupu...... "From above, he had 6 sons in 25th generation, the 26th generation had 10 grandsons and granddaughters."... So as far as we know......Chakrajuice's granddad only had 2 sons in Gen 25......pg 67 in old zupu may not be her granddad...

Wow, FayChee. The headstone name is 佑荃, from left to right. Your Zupu photos 1 & 2, show the reading top to bottom as 荃佑. Third photo shows a different name. Therefore, may not be the same person.
