Hi there, I am not able to locate my dad's village (山朗鄉) in Taishan, Guangdong. Can anyone please help me to locate it on either Google or Baidu Map?

Why say 山朗鄉 instead of 山朗村 (village)? Anyway 山朗村 the village is located at 22.257426, 112.628680 coordinates.

Hi: Sahn Long is now an administrative district in the town of Bok Sah: 廣東省江門市台山市白沙鎮山朗管理區. Someone else on the forum will surely be able to find a map for you. Do you know the name of your ancestral village within Sahn Long? You might be interested in this page from the Taishan government website. It has the whole history of the Mah clan in Taishan, including ancestors of the first 10 generations and a list of all the places (including Sahn Long) where members of the clan reside: www.cnts.gov.cn/cnts/tsxs/201712/93c443a07aa640d98d7c58fbd1b3cd69.shtmlGreg

Lachinatown,
I have found that a lot of people are initially confused about the difference between the Heung and the Li/Cun because of what is told to them/passed down by relatives/parents/grandparents. And, many a time when I have asked people what village they are from, they would say a town. I am from Bak Sui or I am from Du Fook and they wouldn't be able to tell me the village. Then, when I show them a list of villages in the Heung they would be like, oh, that one! I always wondered why that is. Is seems as though when they moved out of China they didn't use the village name as much to denote where they were from and just used the area to identify themselves to others for ease and familiarity of people locating where the person was from? "Where are you from?" "Bak Sha." Because let's say you said you were from "龍安" village. There are 31 of them in Toisan, so it doesn't tell you much unless you denote the town along with it... Bak Sha Heung, Long An Cun/Li.

jeremychin, It is not that I don't the meaning of heung, town or village/li. I was interested where he got the name from. 山朗 is shown on many maps, where as villages are not all shown. He said he already find Chun Xin Li the village, which is shown and labeled on Google map.

Anyway, do you guys have any recommendation where to stay in Baisha? Their hotel rate per night? Where do you rent a van with a driver and how much is the rate per day?

Thanks for helping me out. I need a confirmation about using L Visa with proof of hotel booking reservation and Airbnb reservation. Would the Chinese Embassy give me an L Visa with this type of evidence?

Hello mistermah, I am doing research of my grandfather. His name was Yuen Kon Sai Mah/Mar. Born in 1877 from Toisan, Canton, China to Hawaii in 1901. Here is a photo of his tombstone. I hope it is readable.
