Looking for another village, the name of this one dates back to the 1850s. 廣東廣東増城大墪村 Google Maps is giving me this result: Daduncun, Zengcheng, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China Located here. The second character of the village name (墪) isn't exactly the same, but it's close (敦) -- the pronunciation seems the same. Does this look like a match?

Is it the Loo village that you are looking for? Dai Dun is in zengcheng and I just went there.

Wow, that's an amazing coincidence. I just found your thread on this forum about your trip.
Yes, I am looking for a Loo village. My Great, great grandfather emigrated from there in the 1870s to Victoria, Canada. Unfortunately, I don't have much information about him atm, just his English name.
Did I identify the correct location?

yes, you have the right place. the village will be totally gone within 5 years. the ex pats will be getting their share of the new buildings.
