Hi Peacefuldove,
It was an honor to visit Malaysia and to try to advance Chinese genealogy research. The high profile was due to the efforts of my good friend Philip Tan and his journalist nephew, Stephen Ng. I had met Philip Tan on the Forum "virtually" and then in person in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia has the rather unique distinction of having so many high quality Chinese schools where the Chinese language is taught to many of the Chinese in Malaysia. These people can then still read and interpret all the Chinese family and clan records that hopefully we can find and preserve for them.

Peacefuldove,
Henry may be coming to Malaysia again this year if his professional conference/workshop at Bali, Indonesia in August 2009 should take place. If he comes to Kuala Lumpur, there is plan that a public lecture/workshop on Chinese Genealogy could be organized for him to speak/conduct. While he is in Kuala Lumpur, he and his wife will be my guest in my humble home. If you or others are interested to meet up with him informally as a group, I may be able to arrange it (if Henry can accommodate). The last time when Henry was here in August 2008, we had such a rewarding time with him.
