King Fong is perhaps the best known identity in Sydney's Chinatown. This is a radio interview he gave three years ago. He is a living link to the old days, and his knowledge of Sydney's Chinatown and its anecdotes is a treasure trove to those who are interested in our unique social history. I know King for almost as long as I have been in Australia. In a way, I am also indebted to him. King is a very articulate speaker, it is a pleasure and a learning experience to listen to him talking about what life was like in his youth. www.abc.net.au/rn/verbatim/haveyoursay/

Hi Helen,
Count me as one of your many fans. I always look forward to your contributions to the Forum. I read each one through, and follow the links. The latest on Appo Hocton is no exception. In fact, I posted a short comment on the article. There are few people who can match you in terms of enthusiasm and knowledge of Chinese settlement in NZ.
You are a true Kiwi and a proud daughter of Zeng Cheng. Keep up the good work.
Douglas

Hi Douglas - i missed this post. It's always good to have other family stories as well - just shows that every Chinese man who left their native land ended up with the same experiences that we can all relate to.
