I was responding to question in another thread. After spending the time generating images to try to make my explanation clear, I wanted to make the information more available. That is why these Forum conversations are called threads; it weaves itself throughout the fabric of Chinese genealogy and allows a freer flow of ideas. Unfortunately, months later, it makes finding the topic difficult, almost like a needle in a haystack (to mix my metaphors). I hope this helps: click here to read: "I cannot find my previous post!". I also use the search function at the top of the page. However, this Forum engine is old and the search function leaves much to be desired. There has already been discussions about migrating to a newer engine. However, this runs the risk of losing access to the wealth of previous information.

Dore shared a method of bookmarking any post and then being notified that there are new entries to that bookmarked thread. Here is my summary and pictorial:
At the top of every post (after you sign in) is the opportunity to bookmark (below red rectangle) a thread. Click to toggle on: After you have toggled bookmark to on, click on profiles (red oval above).
Within your profile, click on Bookmarks link (below red rectangle)
Within the bookmark menu, click on the Manage Bookmarks (below red rectangle)
Set up your notification options. If you choose Personal Message, you will be notified in your Message Center, which also has a notification method.
