Chinese who arrived in Papua New Guinea in 1930's

I am trying to find out what people think about the Chinese who arrived in Papua New Guinea in the late 1930's. Does anyone have any suggestions, or actual knowledge, as to whether they would have actually intended going there or just ended up there.

If anyone knows of any books, web sites etc I would be interested in hearing about them.
