A touching story of a fifth generation American Chinese who has spent the last 10 years looking for his root back in Kaiping City of Guangdong Province, China.
It's not too late.
I'm taking 5 others back to their Zengcheng village on July 5th - first time to China for 2 of them; and first time back to the village for some.

Helen, Raymond Chong's is an interesting story. I am sure what you are doing next in July would make a more interesting one. Please keep us informed.
I am saddened by Raymond Chong's narration. He was coached in Mandarin when referring to his ancestors and township Hoiping, not their native tongue Toishanese or Cantonese. It is all part of the relentless drive to marginalise, trivialise and eventual demise of Cantonese. Douglas

Thank you for the posting Helen. A very interesting story. Mr. Chong came from Los Angeles Chinatown. He has written number of stories, including the Far East Cafe in Los Angeles Little Tokyo.
龙冈村 Long gang cun (Cantonese: Lung Gong Chyun) is his ancestral village he visited.
