I just realized that my grandfather married a Chin. However I do not have much info about her. And my sister married a Chin from the area. Talk about a small world.

I too am decended from ancesters from Tiashan village in Guangdong. My paternal grandfather is Tung Wong. I know where he is buried in Los Angeles and have a copy of his death certificate. I have 3 half uncles and 1 half aunt. They are from the 2nd wife in USA. Both my mother and her sister are deceased and are from grandfather's 1st wife from China. My only other source of information is a cousin, daughter of my Aunt mee lan. My cousin is probaby 88 or 89 yo is still lucid. She doesn't remember grandfather Tung. I may be able to locate my grandmother's name. I know I saw it with my mother's immigration application. From what my mother told me, grandfather and great-grandfather returned to China (for a visit) around 1922 or 23. Within 1 year great-grandfather passed away, and grandfather Tung returned to Los Angeles, never to return to China. Any assistance would be appreciated in discovering more of my roots. I am hoping this is the same Tung Wong. v/r.

bethoo,
If your paternal grandfather's gravestone has Chinese characters - it probably has his name & the name of the ancestral village. If you can post a photo of the gravestone, We may be able to help you with discovering your Chinese ancestry.

I have a book from Cha-Chou/Cha-Zhou for the Chan/Chen/Chin Clan that I could share with you if you'd like.
