This exhibit had shown at the Walt Disney Family Museum click in San Francisco over the past 2 years. I am glad it has the chance to travel to other parts of the USA. Since Napa Valley is also a major destination for people visiting California, may I point out the Sharpsteen Museum click in Calistoga, CA. Ben Sharpsteen was also a Disney illustrator and paid a small tribute to his colleague Tyrus Wong in his local museum. Just a FYI. There is not as much information about Mr. Wong as the dedicated Disney exhibits. There is also a small section on the Chinese in Napa and how they contributed to the local economy (as the Chinese have done world wide).

Good News: "10 June 2016 – San Francisco, CA: San Francisco’s Chinese Historical Society of America (www.chsa.org) announced today the New-York Historical Society is donating its Chinese American: Exclusion/Inclusion exhibition materials to the organization. This outstanding showcase, which recently had impressive runs at New-York Historical and the Oregon Historical Society in Portland, will be the Chinese Historical Society’s largest ever undertaking. The museum will close for three months during its installation and re-open in late summer."San Francisco’s Chinese Historical Society

The Chinese Historical Society of America is looking for donations to help with the cost of installing the Chinese American Exclusion/Inclusion exhibit set to open there next month. Here's a link to the sponsorship page if anyone is interested. chsa.org/support/chineseamerican/sponsorship/

amy did a great job working on the displays. Again I highly recommend it. For me, now it is just down the road rather than 3 time zones away! Can't wait.

Aw shucks, Doug. Thanks for the kind compliments. I recently met with Sue Lee from CHSA when she was here in New York. She tells me that they will only have about 80% of the original exhibit. They had to cut it down and reconfigure it because they don't have enough space. But, it will still be the bulk of the exhibit and it is on schedule to open November 5th. I don't know if I'll fly out for the opening, but I'll certainly be out that way some time and will give you a holler.

I just visited the Chinese American Exclusion Inclusion exhibit at it's new home at the Chinese Historical Society in San Francisco. A friend of mine filmed this segment for CCTV America on the exhibits opening: Exhibit Exploring Chinese Exclusion Act Opens in San Francisco. Cousin amy, it was nice to finally see the graphic novel of your family's story. One of my great-grandfathers came the the US shortly after the Exclusion Act was passed. So, like Amy, my family has lived through almost the entire length of the history covered by the exhibit. I was very touched by the entire exhibit and was fortunate to be able to share it with my eldest son. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting San Francisco.

Hey cousin KJ. Thanks for the kind words and for taking time to see the exhibit. It means a lot to know my fellow genealogy researchers like the exhibit. I'm so glad it has a long-term home now in San Francisco. Sue Lee, the Director, tells me that they will continue to add and enhance the exhibit over time. There is an extensive companion educational guide to the exhibit too. Now that California has just mandated the Chinese Exclusion Act be taught as part of the statewide curriculum, it will hopefully be seen by many students across the state too.
