Hello, I am researching the family of my grandfather, Lue Shue, Randolph (abt 1889 -1953) who emigrated from China to Trinidad and Tobago in the early 1900's. He was also referred to among family and friends as "Jiàofù”.
His family came from Li Lang (LiLong) village, Longgang district (previously Bao’On), Shenzhen. He had a son in China, Lue TinFook. In 1934, he sent his eldest son in Trinidad, Vernon QuiLoy Lopez Lue Shue to China. He stayed there with the family for 4 years. The name of the villlage is written on his travel document back from China. I have found no other reference.
Lue Shue, Randolph (in profile photo) was a founding member of the Fui Toong On Association in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
His nephew, Lue Yat, Samuel (1908-1967) married Kong, SueLen (1912-2015)
Other members of the family clan in Trinidad were Lue Keow, Nathaniel who married Alberta Bea Woon Sam (1901-1941), their daughter, Vera Ayin Lue Keow (1920-1996) and his brother, Lue TamQui (Lue Qui, James) (1885-1961)
Liu SuiChoy wu and his son, Liu Ngee from Lilang Village founded another village, Lam Mun Tun where they grew rice and peanuts and ran a peanut oil business. This village was between LiLang and Po Kit (today Buji Town). Liu SuiChoy was a professor and taught in Po Kit.
Lue Chin
Lue Choy
Lue King, Reginald
Lue PingWa
Lue Affatt
Kong
Fung, Eugene, from Chung Hang Kang village.
Other family names from LiLong Village are Jiang, Chen and Wu and Ng.
Shanglilang and Xialilang, Shenzhen are related to the location of the ancestral village.
Any relevant information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Andrew,
I know its been a while since this post, were you able to find the answers you're looking for? I'm in the same situation, except I know very limited information. My grandfather's name was Lipton Lue, he was born 1899 in Canton, Guangdong, China. He migrated to Jamaica with his children and wife at the time. While in Jamaica he had 4 children with a lady named Rennie Williams, later he remarried to Geraldine (my grandmother) and they had three children. In total I believe Lipton Lue has 11 children, however I don't know their whereabouts. I'm looking to fill the gaps in my ancestral line and find out more about my grandfather.

Hello S. Lue,
Thanks for your response. It is not easy researching our Chinese family history given all the transliteration variables in names based on dialect, regional customs, etc. It can help if you know the Chinese character for your grandfather’s name. The character for Lue is probably the Hakka pronunciation of 刘 (Liu), but it could also be 鲁 (Lu). My family clan name is Liu, but I have seen some family members using Lu. I do not speak Chinese, but have used Google Translate to advantage to translate search terms in Chinese and then use a browser plugin to retranslate the Chinese pages back to English.
I do not know of a Lipton Lue, but I will try to research him on Ancestry, MyHeritage and FamilySearch. Note that FamilySearch has a large collection of Chinese names by character in their database. I know that my grandfather had some family in Jamaica. You may wish to research other Lue variations in Jamaica like Lue Shing or Lue Sang.

Hi Andrew,
Thank you for your response, so I did find out a bit more information thanks to the CBA in Jamaica. They had a copy of my grandfather’s death certificate and pages from the burial book. My grandfather was born 劉譚保 / Lue Tom Bao, from the Jin Xiao Tang 浸校塘 Village. Not sure if that village still exists or if it’s been given an alternative name now. However, I’m positive it’s in Guangdong somewhere. His parents were Lue Dunghe and Madam Wong. I still haven’t come across any pictures unfortunately.. I’m eager to see what he might’ve looked like.
While looking through the CBA records, I came across another man from the same village as my grandfather, his name was 劉 譚盛 / Lue Tom Shing. Not sure if they’re related at all.. just thought it was coincidental them both being from the same village with same last names.
...Also still not sure if my family is Hakka, but I’m assuming given the timeline and move to Jamaica

Hello Henry, Thanks for the links. Another transliteration of 刘 is Lue, especially in Jamaica and Trinidad. Some of my family members also write Lu which seems to be another character. Here in Montreal, I noticed that Lu or Luu is also a common transliteration from Vietnamese.

Hi sknl: I was able to find a 浸校塘 Jinxiaotang (Cantonese: Jum Hau Tong) Village) located in Zhutang (Jook Tong) District, Feng'gang (Foong Gong) Town, Dongguan (Doong Goon) City, Guangdong 广东省东莞市凤岗镇竹塘管理区浸校塘村. There is actually a Jinxiaotang Liu clan genealogy published in 2006 that is for sale on this Chinese website: book.kongfz.com/55579/2698185704/. However, it would be difficult to purchase this book if one is outside China. Given your surname, and the fact that this village genealogy exists, I would guess that this is the correct village. Greg
