Hi, I'm helping an acquaintance, in locating her ancestral village. She provided her uncle, Andrew Low's (gravestone showing his birth and death dates (both in English & Chinese characters) and place of birth, San Francisco, 加省三凡市. In 1922, accompanied by his father, Loo King Yick (盧), he went back to his village, Village of Song Share, County of Sun Wuey (Sun Wei), Canton (sorry, no Chinese characters were available) to marry Mae Li (李), also, from the same village. The gravestone shows the village is in Foshan (廣東佛山) and here's where I need help. Can someone offers additional assistance in locating the village with the information provided? Thank you very much, Dragon008

Hi Dragon008,
According to the Village Database, there is a Lo (Loo) village by the name of 雙社 Sheung Sher (Song Share) in Sunwui (Sun Wuey) County:
In the present-day, this area formerly part of Sunwui is now in a new district called Pengjiang. The current official name of this village also adheres to the Simplified Chinese and Mandarin Pinyin romanization practices of the Chinese state: 双社 Shuangshe - click here for the Google Maps link.
No idea as to why Foshan is written as the place of origin on the headstone though~

Hi Jason, Thank you very much for the update on Sunwui (Sun Wuey) County, now Pengjiang, Jiangmen, Guangdong. Just now, my 2 colleagues confirmed your findings of the Lo (盧) surname and village, as well as the location on the google map (after many hours). This is truly a learning experience for me and very grateful for all your input. Dragon008
