Hi dragon008,
There is a scanned vintage gazetteer from 1883 about the town of Jiujiang (found within Nanhai District, not Taishan) available on Google Books ( click here for the link). In it, there are several mentions of a stream called 新挑涌 Xintiaochong. To resonant with Greg's findings, it seems that 新挑涌 Xintiaochong is found near 匯源約 Huiyuanyue which is administrated under 沙嘴村 Shazui Village.
This image mentions, "新挑涌 Xintiaochong, located to the west of 沙嘴 Shaju."
This map shows 新挑涌 Xintiaochong to the west of 沙嘴 Shaju (both in red), as well as two 曾 Jung ancestral halls and a 關 Kwan ancestral hall (all three in blue) to the north of the stream.

I think the location you're looking for is “汇源约 新挑涌”。
