I have discovered that my great grandfather chief steward Tan Po Sing was a merchant seaman based in Liverpool, and i have now found a record of his death 13th June 1942 and he is commemorated at Tower Hill war memorial London as a POW after the ship he was employed on, SS Stanpark was sunk. What i would like help with is finding his home town which i believe is in Hainan. His next of kin is stated as Madam Lim Lee, sister in law. Kar Doh Hui village, Jok eng division, Kheng Jua district, Hainan which im struggling to find. He stated on a census his date of birth 28 January 1891 China. Any help or pointers to start me off would be gratefully appreciated.

Have you tried taking a photo of this tombstone and translating the Chinese characters into their English equivalent?

Do you mean the tombstone in London? It is already in English and only states his name and ship along with two of his colleague's that were also held as prisoners of war.

Sorry I've yet to find anything that isn't in English. Ill continue to try and research the place his sister in law is from, hopefully that will give me some clues.
