When I visited Kaiping/Enping 18 months ago, they had drained the ponds at two separate ancestral villages to harvest the fish. I assume this is an annual event and the pond is then restocked. Here is a YouTube video but in this case the pond had not been drained out for several years and the fish harvest looks plentiful and sold at market
