Author Lily Lee (Sons of the Soil), has thoroughly researched the history of the Chinese women and their children who came into New Zealand from China as refugees to escape from the Japanese. Many of us do not know whether our grandmothers or mothers came as refugees as they did not talked about their arrival into New Zealand because they were glad to be here. Pre-order your copy now as there are limited copies being printed. The book is being sold at $60 per copy plus postage and packing which will be confirmed later on.

The book ππ’π³π¦πΈπ¦ππ ππΆπ’π―π¨π₯π°π―π¨ records the history of some of the Cantonese families who made new lives in the 'Land of the Long White Cloud' in a fashion similar to the way Mavis Yen's ππ°πΆπ΅π© πππ°πΈπ΄ π΅π©π¦ ππ¦π’π³π illuminated the Australian experience. It's worth noting that the book was commissioned by the Chinese Poll Tax Heritage Trust Fund, a government fund that recognises the hardship caused by the discriminatory tax and related legislation, which sponsors projects that promote the preservation and awareness of New Zealand's Chinese history. Nothing similar exists in Australia.
