Hi, I am NW Chan from Malaysia. I wish to locate my ancestral village in Taishan. The name of the village is 中礼村.
Can someone help? I should have this answer by tomorrow early morning as I am now in Shenzhen. I have a free day tomorrow and hope to pay my respects to my ancestors.
Many thanks.
Chan

taishanchan, Zhonglicun 中礼村 is part of the Chen/Chan clan in Doushan 斗山 Liucun 六村. It's about 2 km northwest of Doushan town center. Its coordinates are "22.0672, 112.8141" which can be found via Google Maps search. The new version of Google Maps even has photos of gateway to Zhonglicun 中礼村 village entrance. Bing Maps have been resolution in the satellite (aerial) views, search for coordinates "22.0699, 112.8095" in Bing Maps. There have been many posts on the Chen's of Doushan 斗山 Liucun 六村 recently, siyigenealogy.proboards.com/thread/752/common-ancestor-surname-chen?page=14Zhonglicun 中礼村 is directly south of Dawancun 大湾村 mentioned in those posts.

Taishan chan,
Here is a map of the area and some landmarks I made from my 2011 trip to my family's village of DaWanCun (which laohauqiao indicated is just north of your village of Zhonglicun)
Also marked on my map is the Gao Ye Hotel where I stayed in Taishan City (aka Taicheng). I outlined a little stroll near the hotel and locations of some eating establishments and an ATM that allowed me access to my American bank account

Have a good trip.

Laohuaqiao, Please explain about the "new version of Google Maps". Google has been beta testing changes to Google Maps recently. Yesterday, on my laptop while using Chrome browser photos appeared when I opened Google Maps, along the bottom of the browser window, without me changing any settings. And on my desktop, using Firefox, the navigation tools in Google Maps have changed. There are three tools: the zoom in/out tool remains the same, the compass (with an eye at the center) tool allows the map to rotate 360 degrees, and the new tool allows scrolling the map continuously in any direction. Maybe others here have a better explanation as to what is happening with Google Maps.

My grandfather is a CHIN, and my grandmother is Ng Shee. Is there any connection to Taishan's grandparents? Thanks you

I saw your posting just now. It will be fascinating to know. My grandparents first immigrated to Penang and died well before I was born.
