Hi Al,
One of our members has a detail map Zhongshan and the Siyi counties. He says if you can give him the grid coordinates of the village from the online village database he can provide you with detailed coverage around the village.

I am not aware of an online map of Zhongshan, but I have a map of Zhongshan City itself and a map of the Zhongshan area. Both maps are written in all Chinese characters which I cannot read. Thus I do not know their level of detail (i.e., I do not know if the maps would show the names of villages, especially small ones).

Raymond, would it be possible to have your map scanned in sections and posted? Need it to help others find locations of places at other genealogy sites.

Twoupman, I am not a saavy techie and thus do not have a scanner. The maps are not large at all but are rather small. In fact, each is about the size of a standard 8"x10" piece of paper. If you provide your mailing address to me, I can send you copies of the maps so that you can post them on the website yourself if you choose to do so. Note that the maps are all in Chinese characters.

I am not sure if everyone on the forum here are still active? A year more had past since this post been made and the map of ZhongShan is finally available online. www.n-wisdom.com/map_volume/zhongshan.htm Note: Map in Chinese characters.

Helen, I have a personal hard copy of a map of Dongguan City. However, you can view a pretty detailed online map of Dongguan at: www.n-wisdom.com/map_volume/dongguan_map.htmNote that the towns are written in Chinese and in English. But the villages are all written in Chinese only. Hope this helps you in your search. Raymond

Robin the map link you provided is for Zhongshan city while I referring to the county. The city of Junseng Helen is looking for is not Zhongshan but Zengcheng which is just east of Guangzhou and north of Dongguan.

Helen, my map of Dongguan City does not show much of the Zengcheng City area which is located northwesterly of Dongguan City and northeasterly of Guangzhou City. However, I do have a copy of an individual nicely-detailed map of the entire Zengcheng City area itself that shows all the individual towns and villages of the area. The map is part of a book of maps of various parts of Guangdong Province that I bought when I was visiting my ancestral village last year. However, everything is written in Chinese, of course. I am quite sure this is what you are looking for that would be extremely helpful in locating ancestral towns and villages of interest in the Zengcheng City area. If you cannot read Chinese, you can have someone translate the names for you. Just let me know how can I help you with this. Raymond

Thanks Raymond - Could it be scanned and emailed to me, at the email address under members? It would be good to have as I am planning a Harge reunion later this year.

Oh Raymond - just read your post of July that you don't have a scanner. What country are you in? Maybe snail mail?

Helen, if you're going to use the map for your upcoming reunion gathering, then you should show a good quality map to the attendees. What I can do is make a color copy and a black-and-white copy of the map, and send them to you snail mail. I am located in the US, in Hawaii. The map is small, about the size of a sheet of notebook paper. Email me your mailing address if you'd like for me to send copies of the map to you. My email address is: ray@seid.org Good luck on your reunion. Cheers, Raymond
