With Christmas just around the corner and 2008 drawing to close I would like to thank our moderators and visitors for their contributions during the course of the year. Your kindness, willingness to help and share is deeply appreciated by us, the genealogy community.
I've put together and share this video with you. Comments and suggestions are always welcome. Hope you enjoy it as much as I in putting it together.
All the best and thanks again.

Hi Kevin,
Thank you for setting up this SiYi Genealogy website and Forum - really helps to keep us off the streets.
As just one of the moderators, I have learned so much by helping others.
Happy Holidays to all and please stay safe, healthy, prosperous and always happy.
Here is something you might like, although for Chinese genealogy research - there are a few additional twists:
Twenty Third Psalm for Genealogists
Anonymous, reprinted from the Oregon Pilgrim, quarterly of the Oregon Mayflower Society
Genealogy is my pastime. I shall not stray It maketh me to lie down and examine half buried tombstones. It leadeth me to still courthouses. It restoreth my ancestral knowledge. It leadeth me into the paths of census records and ships' passenger lists for my surname sake. Yea, though I wade through the shadows of research libraries and microfilm readers, I shall fear no discouragement for a strong urge is with me. The curiosity and motivation, they comfort me. It demandeth preparation for storage space for acquisition of countless documents. It annoineth my head with burning midnight oil. My family group sheets runneth over. Surely birth, marriage, death dates shall follow me all of the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of a family history seeker forever.

Fellow Practitioners of Genealogy,
Happy Holidays........much happiness and good health to all. May 2009 bring many more lost souls to the forefront........may long forgotten souls of yesteryear find the beaming searchlights of their eager descendants........and may those searchlights never dim until Huang Di says the search is complete and the sun shines brightly over the Middle Kingdom once more.......

Best Wishes for the New Year from Christchurch New Zealand, hope there will be many more who will make the trip to the Villages to see how their forefathers lived and endured.
To Helen, I see the New Zealand Chinese Friendship Association has been taking visitors - mostly business people and politicians - to China from Auckland for NZ$8,200 (US$4,800) per person. Also the NZ Chinese Association has been taking our Youth groups to China, including a day to the villages for NZ$6,200 (US$3,600). I hope you will get a good look at your village in July 2009, if you are in the Taicheng (Toisan) area I strongly recommend you get in touch with Henry's nephew Tan Shi Cheng at tsc68@msn.com or tsc688@yahoo.com.cn or phones 13322891839 or 13066283628.
Tan speaks English, Cantonese, Siyip and Mandarin. He is very helpful and has good contact with hotels, buses, taxis and can save you a lot of hassle and time. He has a lot of experience of dealing with overseas Chinese finding their villages so do give him a call.
To the moderators and contributors to this unique forum, our best wishes and our gratitude for helping us find our roots and giving invaluable advise so generously when we have lost our way.
Joe

Hi Joe
I want to visit on my own, as a day in the villages won't be enough to cover all I want to see and do. Just to experience the whole Zengcheng scene.
I want to go to:
Chan village of Hargee (My chapter in the Zengcheng New Zealanders book);
Chan village of Sa Chuen (My paternal grandfather village. His Sister's Granddaughter still lives there, and the house is still standing);
Wong Village of Gwa Lian - my husband's village. Currently working on the N Z Wongs Zupu
Bak Shek, the main market place of Zeng Cheng;
Chan village of Sung Gai.
I think all of the places are now covered by Xing Tang. I have "basic" Cantonese but I may need help lol
