Does anyone know of some blog sites allowed in China?? I currently was working on a blogspot blog but then figured it is probably blocked in China. I want to be able to keep a blog of my journey. Also is photobucket allowed? I wish to post pics for everyone back home. Thanks. Also is this forum accessible in China? Have heard a few people had problems.

Hi harc3, The only way to see if the blog is blocked is to actually try it out in China, certain ISP's and internet servers have certain site blocked. And not all. Try another computer or internet site, or change your time, it is a lottery and sometimes you will see the website is suddenly accessible. There are workarounds in China around these blockages, and if you find you need to send something out from China and cannot, send me a pm and I can try to help as the method cannot be openly shown on this public site.
Your tour looks very good, only comment is to let you know that I felt the side tours on the way to see the Teracotta Warriors is well worth the time, see Chiang Kai Shek bedroom where spent his honeymoon!

Hi Harc3,
When you remove the automatic blocks on any foreign ATM transactions for your credit cards - remember that you need to do it for China (PRC) and Hong Kong (HKG). Doing it for the PRC will not do it for HKG, most banks still consider HKG a separate entity from the PRC.
Safe travels,
Henry

Hi Helen,
I see there is some unhappiness in the present google/China relationship with talks of google pulling out of China. Perhaps harc3 can get other alternative free mail addresses, apart from gmail which is a google product which can be unplugged, to be internet connectable in China.

You're right Joe. My daughter in Shangha always has to find another way to access her email accounts and blogs.
How are you anyway? Have you posted any photos of your reent trips anywhere? Would love to see them - maybe on picassa?

Hi Helen, Thanks for keeping in touch and assisting, I have put some pictures of our visit to Beijing, Xian, Guangzhou and Hong Kong on my facebook, do not have time to add a lot or use picassa as find it slow to load, prefer to put on flickr as have an unlimited memory given to the xtra broadband users.
I will try to put some pictures on the public viewing flickr site and will let you know the site. I have left a visit to Shanghai for another time as will spend longer there since have Malaysian colleagues with apartments there. How is Simon getting along, give him my regards.
I will be off to Singapore and home then to see other family in London in July, returning in August via Toronto and New York visiting close friends there.

Hi Joe - Thanks - I'll look forward to seeing the photos. Simon is leaving the North Island for the South Island, driving down this Saturday. He will be reporting on court cases for the Marlborough Express - in Blenheim. It'll be a while before we see him again. If you have any breaking news, be sure to contact him there. Sounds like a lot of tripping for you this year. My Mother's sisters and brother are coming from China to NZ in September. Just waiting for their visas to be approved.

Hi Helen,
Will post some pictures of interest and a short video of real "village hoisaan wah" speak with Henry's nephew, he was a godsend and was of immense help during my quick trip to our ancestral village in Haiyen.
Tell Simon that my name, address and phone is in the Christchurch directory. There is always a spare room for him in our house if he is in Christchurch. I may have an interesting historical Dispute Tribunal case which he may like to look at now with his experience in Blenheim court cases. Bit of possible racism to add spice to this story.
I have friends staying with me in early October but if your relatives from China are coming down south when I am back, please let me know.and I can spend some time with them, it will be a pleasure to provide some Malaysian hospitality to our kindred guests, food is not as good as Guangzhou though. Hi Joe Thanks for the offers of hospitality. I'll let Simon know to contact you when he comes to Christchurch. Not too sure how far South my Aunties and Uncles will come. The dispute Tribunal case sounds interesting. Have a great Easter
