Hi Seeing a message post in your forum about someone searching for their grandad, I thought I might give it a go as well.
I was wondering if anyone on this post would have any information on my grandfather Chan Kay Ping. He was born around 1906 in Shan Pui village, Taishan. He married Mui Kwan Yin in late 1920s and then he went to Burma (Myanmar) in 1930s or 1940s and was unheard of since. He was a school teacher.
Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Searching 123, Welcome to our Forum. Shan Pui ( 山背 ) in Mandarin Chinese is Shanbei. See location of your ancestral village: What information are you seeking? Is it a copy of the village genealogy book? Who are the remaining relatives in the village? Information about your grandfather? Or all of the above? To acquire any and/or all of this information you would need my Taishan nephew to travel to your ancestral village to make inquiries - he does this for a fee. If you want to have this research done, you can contact me at "Tomclan@Gmail.com". Henry

Hi searching 123,
You might want to research what world events affected Burma for the 1930-1940 period when your grandfather was there. I'm reminded of the WWII invasion in that section of the world - Japanese invasion and how it might have affected people. Then, maybe see if there are any mortuary records for Burma under his name.
Jing Though, I heard some of the government records in the Philippines were destroyed during WWII that suffered the effects of the WWII devastation.
