Canadian project to map Chinese ancestral towns

Hi all,

Some of you might already be aware of this, but the University of British Columbia has been working on a project to map the Chinese Canadian ancestral villages/towns, based on the Register of Chinese Immigration to Canada.

It sounds like a great project, and one I hope we get to hear more about.

They didn't mention it, but the common problem we often face here is matching the old translations with the current village names and the addresses under current village administrative system. Creating that connection would help in the ancestral village search. Interesting and exciting nonetheless.
