My brother has returned from China. He went to the Office for Overseas Chinese in Xin Hui. >When we told them (though a Chinese interpreter) about what we were looking for ie a village that sounded like Moy See Heung somewhere in SunWui (Xin Hui) where my great grandfather lived between circa 1846-1876. >They said they never heard of village of that name. Also that were about 11 districts in XinHui and each district had villages and sub-villages. So it was not possible to find such a village. We asked one of them if they could just provide a list of each of the districts. >Eventually one man agreed to write (in Chinese) out the long list of districts and surprisingly also the villages. While he did he also circled each of the villages which the surname CHIN/CHAN came from. After some time he said that there actually were three villages which sounded like the village we mentioned. Still more research needed. But this information may help others in their search. Attachments:

One family member has a gravestones with chinese characters....would this provide any family information? Can someone translate for me please? 廣東新會梅樹亭 陳柏活墳墓 Guangdong Xinhui Meishu Ting Chen Bo Huo's tomb I think Meishu Ting 梅樹亭 should be Meishu Ying 梅樹營, in which case the village is now called Mei Jiang Village 梅江村 Meishu Ying (Plum Tree Camp) was a military camp set up in 1739 during the Manchu emperor Qianlong period, so called because of the plum trees that grew in that region. Chen ancestor moved into the region around 1796- 1820. Later village was renamed Mei Jiang. Its history was wriiten (in Chinese) in Chen family BBS, bbs.chens.org.cn/showtopic.asp?forum_id=70&topic_id=16573Village location is south of Xinhui Town, coordinates (22.489, 113.052) in google maps
