www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~guycigtr/ Trev Sue-A-Quan - maybe he comes from the same area - Chinese in Guyana, beginning with their introduction to Guyana (then called British Guiana) as indentured immigrants between 1853 and 1879. People are always keen to hear from others searching their roots. Try to contact this man to see if he can point you to the right direction.

venetia, I think it's still worthwhile to contact the 2 Associations to see if anyone remembers your grandfather and provide some information about his background. There's good chance someone in their 80s would be old enough to remember him. Helen's link has their contact information.
Fui Toong On is an association of people from what used to be 3 counties in Guangdong (Kwangtung), Huizhou, Dongguan, and Bao'on. The 3 counties located just north of Hong Kong and the New Territories. Huizhou and Dongguan became cities. The city of Shenzhen used to be a fishing village of Bao'on, on the border with Hong Kong, but has since grown into a big urban area and Bao'on is now one of its districts. People from these 3 areas are mostly Hakka people. The name Fui Toong On are the words Hui, Dong, On in the Hakka dialect.
Zhongshan( Chung Shan) is another county turned into city in southern Guangdong.
Looking at a map, Zhongshan is west of the mouth of Pearl River and Huizhou, Dongguan and Shenzhen (Bao'on) are on the east side.
