I am looking for any information on my grandfather. He traveled from Canton to the U.S. we believe San Francisco in the late teens early 1920's. We believe his stay was brief before traveling to Mexico. I have very limited information.
The father's name would be
熊æ¾æ¥ Xiong Song Nan (Mandarin) Hong Sung Nam (Cantonese)
The village name was written as follows
ä¸åœ‹ China 廣æ±çœ Guangdong province å°å±±ç¸£ Taishan (Toisan) district å¤§æ–°æ‘ Daxin village
Any help is appreciated.

Imunoz, To locate your grandfather's ancestral village, go to Google Maps and then copy and paste this: 廣東省江門市台山市大新. The red "A" marker shows the village. To view the surrounding region just zoom out. The county capital of Taishan (台山市) is situated north of the village. Hope that helps you. houseofchinn.com

Xiong 熊 is not a very big surname clan in Taishan. From c-c-c.org village database, there is a Daxin 大新 with the surname Xiong (Hung).
The location of the village is 22.096,112.62 in latitude, longitude
This Daxin village is not labeled in google maps, but from the database it used to be part of Lian'an Xiang 联安乡 and there are villages Dacheng 大成 Daguang Li 大光里 and Dachang 大昌 with the same surname and they should be neighboring villages. 大成, 大光里, 大昌 and a Lian'an Cun 联安村 do appear on google maps.
Maps feature of China's own search engine baidu.com does show the location, and labeled, of Daxin Li 大新里 , but you can not search location by latitude and longitude in baidu maps. I came up with the location by comparing the 2 maps.
(Note: I'm glad the c-c-c.org village-surname database is back up. It is an invaluable tool.)
