Very pleasantly surprised and inspired by this rarest of rare recordings of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the great revolutionary who led the revolution to overthrow the last corrupt, decadent dynasty.
It is in Cantonese, in it , we can hear the unmistakable Chungshan accent of the founder of the Chinese Republic! 首次聴 先生較長的録咅, 先生的中山口咅對我地道中山人特別親切. I am sorry there is no English subtitles. It is his manifesto of reviving China in the face of insurmountable odds.
This next one is a talk by one of Hong Kong's best known identities, Raymond Wong Yuk-man. He is a fearless critic and commentator. Here, he is giving a talk on the deeds of Dr.Sun, Hong Kong's place in the scheme of things, the role oversea Chinese played in the success of the revolution, and a general lesson in modern Chinese history.
Did you know Dr. Sun was granted U.S. citizenship? It is a little fact I am not aware of. Raymond Wong was a popular talk-back radio host. Nothing was off limits to him. No, he wasn't a shock jock, but his outspokenness displeased certain underworld organisation, and pro-Beijing groups.
''Raymond Wong Yuk-man is a Hong Kong politician, author, current affairs commentator and radio host. He is a member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong, representing the Geographical constituency of Kowloon West. Wikipedia''
Again, there is no English subtitles for our non-Cantonese speakers. I wish that wasn't the case.
