I am looking for a small village in the Zhongshan region of Guangdong that is the home of the Hawaiian ??Luke?? family. The old handwritten record I have called it ??Kam Sac village, Sixth County, Chung San District, Kwan Tung, China. The Chinese characters are: ?V?| ??ɽ ^ ?\ʯ There is a hand-drawn map which shows the village of ?\ʯ close to the coast, at the intersection of ??Goong Sheong Doo?? and ??See Bai Doo??, just across Jinxing Bai from the Island with Zhuhai Qi'ao Dangan Island Nature Reserve. Has anyone heard of ?\ʯ village? There's nothing on the map, but there is a Yanshiwei Fishing Village ??ʯΧ ? a little North. Could there have been another ??stone?? village now gone?

I noticed the Chinese characters in my post aren't encoding clearly, so here is the location and the name of the village in a clear pdf. Thanks

Dean, do you know what character coding you are using? Do you have a sharper map? Showing on our village data for LUK (陸) surname is: Tsui Hang (翠亨) Kam Shek (錦石) 22 26 00 N, 113 25 30 E (most likely the village is too small to show on a map) Sun Yat-sen's former residence is located in this area.
The address you wanted to post is 廣東中山六區錦石 or (广东中山六区锦石) in Traditional and Simplified Chinese characters. (Actually should not use 六區 6th county, since maybe it was used by the writer to list the counties, 翠亨 Tsui Hang was the proper name)
BTW We have discussed this general area before.
UPDATE: The village is not small, big enough on the map located at 22.394999,113.519325, exactly the same location on your map. Now part of Zhuhai 珠海 city.
(There is a same village name in Taishan)

Yes, thanks so much, I found it on the ditou.cn map. It looks like what used to be a small village but now in the middle of a pretty built up area with a lot of large buildings. Warehouses? Or factories? Any suggestions on the best way to explore? I'm thinking we will take the ferry from HK either to Zhuhai or Zhongshan and then rent a car with driver - is that possible do you think?
I'm curious what will happen when two white guys with cameras show up with a half-Chinese half-Hawaiian mahu (transgender) woman in a hula outfit and start asking questions about the Luk family...?

Consider pre-hiring a guide. Look in the middle of this currently active threadclick about Tan ShiCheng. You can contact him via Henryclick . ShiCheng specialized in the Siyi region, but has done field-work for me in the Zhongshan region.
