My father is Chen, Hsi Feng(born and mother is Chen Shin, Hsu Tsiu. I want to find out more about my grandfather Chen, Yong Li who was born in Shangdong trained in Japanese army in 1934 and died in Taipei 1952. Jeffrey Chung Ping Chen

I assume you have more information. Based solely from what you have written, I recommend you study first what you know best: your family. By interviewing your elders and searching the family archives, obtain any ‘official’ given names of your relatives in Chinese characters. These given names are not freely used within family units (disrespectful). If your immediate family is not available, then interview your extended family (uncles, aunts, distant cousins). This is a common technique to discover your own lineage. You will also need the name of your ancestral village (in Chinese characters). It is extremely difficult to learn more about your grandfather without first uncovering your lineage in Chinese characters instead of phonetic spellings.
