Your chances would be good if you have family names, chinese characters, and some knowledge of where the male members actually came from. Do your homework first - and Good luck

Hi Yiat, Hushan (岵山) was formerly known as Xiaohu (小岵), Nanshan (南山). That is where my ancestors originated from. It is just about 3 miles from Yongchun (福建) city. A map of Hushan Township is shown below and the various village names are given therein. When you are there, I do not think you would distinguish the start of one village to another as all are basically within one township. I was just there in May 2015 for the re-consecration ceremony of my ancestral house (located at Huangqianling (黄墘嶺) marked therein)(built 100 years ago) following its restoration. Recently I received a leaflet from the local government office giving the location of the places of interest there and location of various ancestral halls. I left the leaflet in my office. If you wish to see it, I could scan it when I go there on Wednesday and forward it to you. Just give me your email contact. What is your surname, by the way? There is a local Overseas Chinese Office in Hushan that could assist you in finding your ancestral house. Officers from that office did come for our lunch banquet following the re-consecration ceremony and they presented a framed cloth banner to our ancestral house. Philip Tan

Very nice Philip Tan, with the map and the restoration.
The leaflet maybe of interest to our readers here. If possible, maybe you can also post it here too. Thanks.

Arising from Lachinatown’s request, I went to my office today to get the Hushan leaflet, rather than waiting for Wednesday. Yiat also contacted me by phone while I was preparing the leaflet for posting. I shall be meeting him tonight. The leaflet is in Chinese. Maybe Lachinatown could provide a brief translation; at least on the first part of the leaflet. The leaflet and the map are posted below: Philip Tan
