I believe my grandfather was from the stream of Lee Kit.
My grandfather mentioned about our ancestors was not Han Ru, but Ching Ru from Mongolia.
I accompanied one of my grand auntie (she is a twin sister of my grandfather) from New York returned to Taishan with her for amending the family tree in 1991.
In Taishan 1991, most people in the village still has an authentic look that unlike southern Chinese. For example, lighter large brown eyes, higher nose bridge etc.
And I learnt about the family history a little bit from the family tree book, but I didn’t understand completely because I only speak Cantonese Mandarin and English. None of the people in the village spoke neither of the languages.
Most people said I don’t look like “Normal Chinese” (tall, brown big eyes with long lashes), and I suggested to them about this family history of migrating to the Canton from the North of Mongolia.
Those I got it from my grandmother, grand auntie and my own Mom. Which said we were not Han Yu and Chinese?
The wedding dress of the tradition use is Blue Black (Ching), and wearing colourful (pink or red) feathers on the head with colourful belts on the head and waist, I would say a bit like Canadian Indian or Nomad on outskirt of China but a different colour and style.
My mum kept her wedding wrap, and belt, so I was pretty sure it was right about there were other type of wedding dress for Chinese other than RED.
Some men still keep a little braided hair (warrior tradition) with them as a hair style when I was in the village (1991).
