...Does anyone know what the reason is for this? Is it because it is closer to Guangzhou and they haven't traveled down into these more southern areas yet in full force? Or that there is a larger area of urban development in Zhongsan vs Toisan and Hoiping? ... I would say it's 钱作怪 ($ talks). When those map maker realize there's enough demand (at least can receives some revenue from online ad) of outsider to visit that particular area , they will make it happens. Guangzhou also had tons street view blind spots...

SUBJECT: Looking for Nom Toon Village Heung-san district
My guess is Nom Toon is Duanfen area near Mei's Grand Courtyard in Toishan, specifically the village of Haitangli
My parents also originated from Nom Toon village. My father came over as a teenager around 1920, served in the US Army during WWII and retrieved my mother after War Brides Act. My 4 siblings and I were born in US. I grew up speaking Toishanese/Hoisanvah which, I think, is peculiar to Nom Toon area and common in Chinatowns from that era.
I do not read nor write Chinese and being estranged from my siblings, my search has been more academic, rather than hearsay. I find that what one generation/ sibling wants to remember, another wants to forget. From my mother's gravesite markings and historical patterns, I have concluded the above.
Any feedback on my guess would be greatly appreciated, since I am also planning a trip.

Why not ask in another thread. This topic seems about Ng clan from Heung-san Anyway 香山 or not doesn't really matters. The village founder are from Taishan. 南村伍族,始祖伍章焕,明代从新会斗洞(今台山大江东头)绿围乡,分支香山南村 . Even today some 伍 villagers can't fully understand the old proper Longdu dialect.

Sorry for any confusion and not trying to hijack this thread.
The village name was the same but in a different district.
Did you make the trip?
Any info/clarification would be helpful to me as I am also planning a solo trip.

mleemd, Based on the information you provided, Jason Wu & I believe we have found your ancestral village: Your ancestral Lee village is actually: 源興里 / 源兴里 Yuan xing li near 上南村 Shangnancun near 南村 Nancun just east of SiJiu Town [ 四九镇 ], a suburb of Taishan City / Taicheng [ 台山市 ] Here are some maps to help orient yourself: By the way, FYI the Taishan Lee Clan Association just published a 7 volume Taishan Li Clan genealogy book-set ( 7,316 pages ) - it weighs 40 pounds, required donation is 1,000 RMB and cost $75 USD to ship to the USA by boat - takes 2 months. Henry and Jason Wu,
Many thanks for your guidance and counseling. I read with interest the similarities of the village name Nom Toon that my family and the Ng family use and your Nancun translation conclusion in both cases..
I am grateful for your learned assistance.
The Nom Toon term initially brought me to this valuable resource.
Thanks again.
