Hi everybody!
So recently, I've gotten interested in tracing back my family's roots since it is a pretty interesting thing and because no one else in my family seems to care about doing it, so someone needs to.
Ever since I was little, my family would talk about how I had a great grandfather from China. Today I was determined to know more about him, so I did some digging and found some information, however most of it is information about his late life, and there is almost zero information about his family or where he was born. He also died when my grandma was 3, so she doesn't know a lot either. I also don't have any Chinese character names, only romanizations, which makes it even harder.
Because of all this, I would like to see if anybody here could help me with finding information about which town or family he might be from.
For context, this is what I know about him:
1. He was a Chinese immigrant who came to Mexico by boat.
2. When he came to Mexico, he adopted a Mexican name and went by "Antonio Ang", however, from some bank documents we found, his Chinese name was probably "Dong Seck".
3. The names of his father was "Andung Ang" and the name of his mother was "Ying Wong".
4. He was from Guangdong (or what we know in Mexico as Canton).
I also have a picture of what my Grandma says is his tomb.
I've never really used message boards, so I'm a little confused by how this works. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place!
If anybody could help me by translating what the tomb says, and from what family and city/town he might be from based on his last name, I would be really grateful. Thanks in advance!
