Hello everyone,
Can anyone tell me what the coverage for the Hong Kong registry of births deaths and marriages is like? For example, was registration mandatory for BDMs for both the caucasian, asian and mixed populations? From what years are coverages complete or reliable? Were traditional Chinese marriages required to be registered here as well, or only civil and church union?
One of the questions I had is that my great grandparents (both Chinese) supposedly married in Kong between the years of 1900-1910 and I want to get an idea of whether a marriage certificate/registration for them would exist.
Another question is that a great aunty was born on 12 Dec 1901 in To Kwan Wan. What is the likelihood that her birth was registered and the evidence exists today?
If there is reasonable chance the documents/evidence exist, and how does one go about applying?

Thanks Tyuti. So it seems the likely answer is no. The likelihood of finding the above is next to naught.

I have a birth certificate dated 1912 that has a higher number than 13. Mine is 591 and was issued 12 years earlier that the one in the photo.

My parents married in HK 1948 and there is a marriage certificate available. He was a Kiwi and she was Chinese from Canton.
