What are your experiences of this? I was born in NZ and so was my father. In my own family we did not do this the traditional way. We just took flowers to my Father and his father's graves, about once a year, as they were many miles away from where I live. But just last year my mother passed away. She was born in China, but she never did the Quinming ceremony as her Mother and Father were in China.
I have picked it up from my husband's side of the family, and my children are also comfortable about participating in the ceremony, joss stick, rice, pork, chicken, vegetarian dish, tea and fruit, paper money etc
My sister, brother and I have just come back from our parent's and Grandfather's burial place, and we have just done the ceremony for them.
Just wondering what you all do - do you particpate in the grave sweeping ceremony, and also the other one later in the year? I felt it appropriate, even though we have never done it before in my own family.

To me the visit is important everything else is symbolic and secondary.
