I'm trying to confirm the existence of 四寮村 in either Xinhui or Taishan. Can't find it in any of the maps I have. TIA.

laohuaqiao,
Good question. 田 or 四 I say there is a strong possibility it is 田. Often when we are going through old headstones or old documents, we see different characters that looked similar.
As a by the way, 新會, 崖門, 貓山, is where our Progenitor 甄舜河 (Gin Sun Hall)

Henry,
Gee that is quick turn around. This is an amazing Message Board.
If indeed it is what we think it is, then Woodson, the folks at 田寮村 and my ancestors were neighbours. To complete my last truncated posting, our Progenitor was buried at 貓山"Cat Hill". Interesting thing is, our Clan was and still is very good friends of the Lee Clan at 甜水村 (Sweet Water Village). (There is a story behind thsi, but best reserved for another time. ) Whenever we visit our ancestor's tomb (as it is quite a substantial structure), custom and protocol demands that we pay respect to the LEE Ancestor of 甜水村 first. The Lee village always puts on a great show of Lion Dance for us, and in return, we always leave at least one roast pig behind, and take another one to our ancestor's tomb, "up the road". (No we are never sick of good roast pigs. Nor the Lee folks, for that matter :-) )
Looking at this conversation, again it reminds me that we are fortunate to have a living memory of our heritage. And as a view already shared with all, I am progressively writing this down for those who come after us. It's their heritage, as much as it is ours, for now (as we will surely one day go to the Big Heritage Research Sky.)
Regards, Ah Gin

I was hoping for a different answer because we are trying to resolve a genealogy question involving 田寮村. If there is no 四寮村 then an entire clan of Lee's genealogy records could be terribly wrong for hundreds of years.
Ah Gin, do you know the name and mailing address of 甜水村村長? Information on this branch's Lee may help in resolving the genealogy records of the 田寮村 Lee.

Woodson, Ah, the joys of looking at old records. There must be a reason why the records now needs a bit of tightening up. I have no direct contact with the 甜水村 headman, as all our travels to pay respect to our Progenitor was managed by our Memorial Hall people at Hoiping/Kaiping. (On at least two different occasions, 700 plus Gin Clan people went, as part of our World Gin Conference. Yes, we are that crazy.). That said, I suggest you contact the headman using the following address: 广东, 江门市,新会区, 崖门鎮,三村 甜水村 If you hit a wall, and if you really need help, by all means drop me a line and I will contact our elders at our Memorial Hall in Hoiping/Kaiping and see if they can facilitate. Hey, after all, the LEE and GIN are 兄弟 (brothers ) Just for the fun of it, I have attached photo of the village. Quality may not be as good as I like it, but it was for the web, small screen. Here goes. Good luck. Regards, Ah Gin
