Helen,
Another well known story on a Chinese woman being sold is about Polly Bemis, a Chinese woman sold in the American West - there was a film "Thousand Pieces of Gold" based upon a book by Ruthanne Lum McCune, who also wrote an account of a true story, "Sole Survivor", about a Chinese seaman that managed to survive for 133 days on the open sea.
