Hi Tommy,
Welcome to the Forum.
Are you a Tam (譚)? I ask because, the majority of villages in the SiYi region are primarily a single clan village and this helps to narrow down the possibilities to deal with.
If you are a Tam and your ancestral village is located in Kaiping / Hoiping - then there are 2 possible villages - I will include them here - perhaps there is somebody in the family that is able to recognize the name. If the name of your ancestral village is identified, then I'll try to locate your village on a map. There are thousands of villages in each of the component counties that comprise the SiYi region - many with the same name within a county and within the 3 other counties.
松朗村 Chung Long

Hi Tommy, I have checked the Village DB: www.c-c-c.org/villagedb/search.cgiSearching under "Hom,Tam" - entry number 267 is Chung Long village ( 松朗村 ) is the village that I believe is your ancestral village. Based on the romanizations you provided, Chinese characters would have been better, you mention "hoi peng" which is probably Hoiping (Cantonese) / Kaiping (Pinyin) and also "sui hau", which is probably "Shui Hou" (Cantonese) (水口). The Village DB indicates that "Chung Long" village is located within Hung Fa (紅花) heung - a heung is a rural district and is located near the market town of Shui Hou. I was unable to locate "Chung Long" village specifically on any maps, however, I did locate Hung Fa village - apparently, Chung Long is either too small a village to show on a map or it has been absorbed by a larger village - possibly Hung Fa village, which is now a village instead of a rural district. I believe that your ancestral village is definitely in the vicinity of Hung fa village just on the NW outskirts of Shui Hou town. You can probably take a taxi in Shui Hou and the driver will know where your ancestral village is. Looks like Shui Hou is approximately 13 km NE of Kaiping city center and Hung Fa village is about 2 km NW from Shui Hou town center. Here is a map: Henry mysite.verizon.net/vzepzaui/Hung Fa.jpg[/img]
