Hi - Can you help us more with any chinese characters, photo of headstone, letters? Each country had a different way of spelling the Chinese names when they arrived in the country.

My daughter writes a blog for a company - her latest post : www.languagetrainers.co.uk/blog/2011/01/30/ Happy Chinese New Year 兔 you. 年年有余兔 (nian2 nian2 you3 yu2), meaning ‘may there be surpluses every year’, it sounds exactly like 年年有鱼, ‘may there be fish every year’.

Hi Helen,
Kong Hee Fatt Choy to you and your family. And to all our forum members. I enjoyed reading your daughter's blogs, they are mature, have a deep insight and are on present day topical subjects - apart from being written in excellent English.
I will let you have my Chinese mobile number when I am in Shanghai for a week in April, I would like to invite her (and you if you are there) out to a dinner when we are there.
Joe

Kong Hee Fatt Choy to you and your family Joe, and to all the message boarders. It is New Years Eve here in New Zealand - and sad to say - there's just my husband and I. All the children are scattered around the world, or working. Hope you all have a great New Yaers Day.
I hope we can catch up with you in Shanghai Joe.. will be in touch.
